What’s the idea?
While building a sequence, there is no easy way to utilize a MIDI input device (MIDI Keyboard) to quickly enter notes without recording it live. Recording live, while has the ability to record quantized, can still be limiting while laying down fast patterns etc.
I suggest a couple of features.
Currently:
Sequence Page
-press a grid button on a track, it defaults to the default note value
Suggested functionality:
if a track's midi input has a current noteOn message, if a grid button is pressed, it should default to that note
Add a knob in the sequencer page next to Rotate which is 'Step Input' values '1/8 | 1/16 | 1/4 | 1/2 etc'
2.a. when pressing a grid to start a new note, it should default to this length (unless using the double grid custom length shortcut)
2.b. when clicking the encode for step input it activates 'step mode view' kind of similar to when you click pitch
2.c step mode view would be piano roll, but have the column of the current step of the shee highlight
2.d. when a noteOn is received on that track, a new note at that value, and at the step length should be added, and the active column should increment
