What’s the idea?
Scale based note input (i know it has already been requested, but i've added some more ideas to it)
Describe the feature or improvement you’re suggesting. What problem does it solve, or what would it enable?
Core Scale Features:
- Scale Integration in Sequence Tab: Add scale selection directly within the sequence interface
- Non-Destructive Scale Quantization: When changing scales, automatically adjust notes to fit the new scale while preserving original note data, allowing users to revert to their initial composition
- Global Scale Setting: Implement a master scale that affects all relevant functions across the device
Sequence Interaction:
- Scale-Aware Step Pitch: When a scale is active, per-step pitch adjustment should only select notes within the chosen scale
- MIDI Input Quantization: Provide an option to quantize incoming MIDI from keyboards to the selected scale, with the ability to toggle this feature on/off
- Scale-Aware Pitch Offset: Pitch offset functions should respect scale boundaries, moving notes to the next available scale degree rather than chromatically
Visual Enhancements:
- Enhanced Piano Roll Display: Clearly highlight scale notes in both SEQ and KEYS modes
- Scale Degree Visualization: Display scale patterns more intuitively on the piano roll interface
- Grid Pad Scale Mapping: Show scale notes prominently on hardware grid pads

- Chord Mode Implementation: Add chord generation and manipulation capabilities that work within the selected scale context
Future Development Potential: This scale architecture would serve as the foundation for numerous advanced features including scale-based arpeggiation patterns, modal interchange tools, sophisticated music theory-based generative functions & Midi FX, automatic harmonization, intelligent chord progressions. The underlying scale framework would enable features like automatic bass line generation, scale-aware randomization, and complex harmonic sequencing that would significantly expand RELIQ's compositional capabilities in future updates.
