Complet freeze + project loss

What’s the issue?

I have the Oxi One connected directly to the HOST port. I accidentally shut down the Oxi One while it was playing. At that moment, Reliq had a lights glitch, and the next moment it completely froze.

I had to shut Reliq down, and when I restarted it, everything was gone.

Really sorry to hear this. From the description, this sounds like it may be power-related. It is possible that powering off the Oxi One while it was actively connected and communicating caused a power overdraw. We’re already trying to reproduce this on our side to understand what might have caused it.

In the meantime, we’ll do our best to understand what happened to the projects.

Could you please try the following:

Disconnect any devices from the USB HOST port and reboot Reliq.
Connect Reliq’s USB HOST port to a computer using the provided USB-C to USB-A cable.
Open the Reliq Updater and click Transfer.
Press Open Projects to open the projects folder.

If possible, could you send us a screenshot of what you see there at support@reliq-instruments.com? We’ll do our best to recover any projects as quickly as possible.

Just to make sure I understand correctly: was it only the affected project that remained corrupted, or did the other projects come back after the reboot?

We’re still investigating the USB HOST scenario, so that information would help us narrow things down.

Hi again.
Yesterday i was playing around after updating to 1.8.0 - i updated the color scheme of my template (which i saved), i played around for a few hours in the studio. Reliq freezed again completely. I had to shut it down and restart it. I haven't saved any projects while playing around but the template didn't have of my changed colors for each track. A new file also apparead which was empty "unamed₁" (or something like that).

Only thing i can think of is it has something to do with using Reliq as a midi hub as well. My other 2 sequencers are sending all the midi to Reliq and then Reliq distributes it further.

Thanks a lot for the follow-up and for the extra detail about the MIDI connectivity.

Based on your description, our first guess is that the freeze may be related to a power spike or instability when multiple external devices are connected to or powered through Reliq. We’re trying to reproduce this internally, but it would be very helpful if you could elaborate a little more on how everything is currently connected.

Are both sequencers connected through the USB host port, USB MIDI device port, or MIDI TRS? And how are the external devices powered?

Rlx 1.8 includes several improvements intended to prevent similar edge cases, but we definitely want to look into this more deeply and understand exactly what is happening in your setup.

OxiOne is connected in two ways: via USB (through a Lindy USB hub to Reliq) and via MIDI DIN (through a Kenton merger, then directly to Reliq).

At the time of the freeze, Oxi was actually connected to a Lindy USB hub, which was connected to Reliq. I chose this setup because Reliq does not power Oxi on its own, and the USB hub provides that power. The hub is connected to the USB Host port on Reliq.

The second sequencer also goes to the merger via MIDI DIN.

Thanks a lot for the extra information. This is really helpful.
Different USB hubs can behave quite differently when it comes to power delivery, handshakes, and general connectivity, so we’ll try to get the same Lindy Metal Hub and a Kenton MIDI merger here for testing.
Should the issue happen again, please let us know the exact connection flow that was active when the freeze occurred. That will help us narrow it down much more quickly.
