Launch Control XL does not work as an External Control Device

What’s the issue?

Tried to use a Launch Control XL as an External Control Device
Sending the expected CCs did not control the Reliq.

How to reproduce

Describe the steps to make it happen reliably.

Program a Launch Control XL to send CC 15 or 16 on various channels
Connect to USB Host port and set External Control Device to Launch Control XL
Adjust the sliders
Mix levels do not change

Debugging steps attempted

Confirmed that correct CCs were being sent using a software MIDI monitor.
Confirmed that the same CC messages sent from another device were able to control the Reliq.

Thoughts

The Launch Control XL appears as two devices when I connect it to a computer. Only one of those devices sends the MIDI messages. The other device is for controlling the Launch Control XL from a DAW. I presume that the Reliq is somehow connecting to the other USB MIDI device and not receiving the messages, but I don't have a good way to test that.

You're most likely right about the dual USB port behavior on the Launch Control XL. Just to confirm: in SETTINGS → External Control Device, do you see both LC XL ports listed? And if yes, does the issue persist even after trying both options?

In SETTINGS → External Control Device I see only one entry for the LC XL. I only see two when I connect it to a computer. When I connect the Reliq to itself I see two entries in both places, so maybe the extra entry on the computer for LC XL is different. It's called Launch Control XL (HUI) in the Renoise MIDI monitor.

That extra bit of info about the HUI port really helps. We’ve got a few ideas about what might be causing this and are already working on a fix.
