What’s the idea?
The encoders above the fx types (generator = enc1, midi = enc2, expression = enc3) could be used to choose the desired effect. They are so nicely aligned with the buttons that I keep using them.
This will get more important once more effects come available. You'd probably not want to scroll through all of the effects and rather just pick and choose from the corresponding encoder.
