Hello,
I’ve been testing some of the new features and encountered a transport-related bug.

There’s a new issue between my Novation SL Mk3 and Reliq. Since USB Host is not bidirectional yet, I’ve been following Kyriakos’ advice: using USB Host to receive notes and CC messages, while syncing the SL Mk3’s clock by sending clock and transport via MIDI Out 3 (which I’d like to reserve for another purpose in the future ^^).

Before the 1.2 release, this setup worked fine. With the new firmware, however, it now creates a MIDI feedback loop, causing both Reliq and the SL Mk3 to crash.

At the moment this makes my setup unusable in its current state.

How to reproduce

Describe the steps to make it happen reliably.

Plug both device as mentionned above
Make sure that SLmkiii Clock TX disabled and Reliq USB clock receive is disabled to
Press Play

System info (if relevant)

Rlx version: e.g. 1.2.0
Connected devices: Novation SL49MKIII
Platform: Standalone

I’m investigating this issue and have a couple of questions to better understand the context:

If you switch off the external control device from the settings page, does that stop the MIDI feedback?
Does the SL MKIII have an option to forward any incoming MIDI messages directly to the output (like a MIDI-thru feature)?
Is the MIDI loop triggered only when you press play, or also when sending MIDI notes or CC messages while stopped?

1.The external control is already off.

2.Yes, the SL MKIII has this option for DIN output, but it’s turned off. I’ve also disabled the MIDI Clock TX on all outputs.

3.The MIDI loop is only triggered when I press play (first lag), and then it crashes when I press stop.

Hi again, thanks a lot for the reply 🙏 Super helpful! Just to check — when you send a MIDI note or CC while the sequencer is stopped, do you get any MIDI feedback loop or crash?

Not at all ! i can play note and cc when it's stop. Pressing play create the problem

Perfect! Thanks a lot for making the video 🙏 Now it’s crystal clear. Looks like the start/stop messages are ping-ponging between the two devices. I’ll dig deeper and hopefully have a fix soon.

Nice, thanks! I’ve monitored the MIDI messages sent when the stop button is pressed.
I noticed that CC#123 (value 0) is being sent simultaneously and loop on all channels.

Hello , sorry for asking this but will there be a fix soon ? I have a gig next week and right now I'm unable to use my reliq . Is it possible to downgrade to 1.1.3 ?

While I’m working on a more permanent solution, here’s a quick test you can try in the meantime. It might help at least temporarily: apply a simple MIDI filter between the Novation and Reliq.

If possible, you can use the attached Max MSP patch. No license is needed — you can just download the software here https://cycling74.com/downloads and open the patch directly.

The routing would be:
SL → computer/laptop → MIDI filter → computer/laptop → Reliq MIDI Host port

This is just an experiment, but it may help you get around the issue over the weekend. On Monday, I’ll get back to you with something more concrete.
