What’s the idea?
Describe the feature or improvement you’re suggesting. What problem does it solve, or what would it enable?
This is not exactly requesting a new feature, rather request for certain considerations regarding any new scale quantisation features that are under development:
Please consider how scale quantisation can be maintained or implemented while still allowing for making wild adjustments to midi FX or pitch with MIDI modulation, automation, fx, or generators.
An example of this problem found on most other devices: When using transposing effects with chords, that modulate semitone (midi note number) - when really you are wanting to maintain diatonic chord shapes, e.g.:
- In key of C Major - Transpose a C major chord by +2 semitones, you get a D major chord, which is not the diatonic D chord in C Major key/scale.
Applying another scale quantising effect after the transposition doesn't always fix this:
- A diatonic 1357 chord transpose to diatonic 2468 chord, still playing every 2nd scale degree above the root)
There are a few ways this could be fixed, but it depends a lot on the technical details of the scale quantise and pitch parameter implementation. But - it's also harder to fix one the other things have been finalised, so I hope that it can be considered at this earlier stage, even if not implemented yet.
