What’s the idea?
when playing live you never know how long you want to perform => autogrow clip
then most of the time you don't need your whole performance but just a few bars : you want to select the best loops ( or sheets. in ableton for ex it's very easy to select sart point / end point of a clip,

you can imagine that when a track is selected, under the events row you have a "sheet row" or several ones where you can select which sheets are active ( 1 row = 16 sheets ) a bit like in ableton push where you select where you want to loop the clip.
