What’s the idea?
I'm a university student studying sonic arts, particularly interested in combining audio and visual performance through improvised live sequencing/controlling/performance.
Question:
Is there a way to have the reliq's pads and buttons send midi messages over a different port or channel?
Separately to the sequencer/generated MIDI. For example, every time I press buttons, turn encoders, midi gets sent regardless of which page or mode I'm working on.
Why?
I'm a university student, currently studying sonic arts - I am trying to generate 3d visuals with MIDI information, and the reliq is such an amazing interface.
This is fairly common among controllers such as launchpads, etc. They have 2 virtual ports, one that just gives raw interface data, or accepts control input for testing, and one that is for the midi that gets 'generated' through the various functions and modes of the controller.
Even purely from a sound perspective, it could be beneficial for live music performers to have access to a midi stream like this, because you could use it to help people feel what you're doing, by hearing an outcome when you move controls
In terms of implementation, I think there would need to be some menu options for filtering particular types of midi, or where they are directed to.
As someone who knows a little bit about programming, I feel like it wouldn't be difficult to implement, because you're already reading all the data, but some of the other parts might be depending on how things work under the hood?
